The Holiday meeting was held on December 11, 2022. The food was delicious as always, the Museum decorations were beautiful and festive. Many thanks to the Connetquot High school brass band, who brought the holiday spirit to us! The raffle was a huge success as well!

November Meeting Highlights
Dr. Pinnamaneni explained how he came to Bohemia to set up his practice, answered general questions from the audience, and discussed preventative measures for a healthy lifestyle.
Mr. Audett discussed the Bohemia Fire Department organization, activities, and challenges, and encouraged the audience to vote on December 13, 2022 from 3pm to 9pm at the Firehouse on Pearl Street.

Remembering Bishop Emil Wcela
At our October meeting long time resident Ken Nocar shared his recollections of Bishop Wcela.
Afterwards, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter presented an award thanking Judy Pedneault for her many years of service as President of BHS. Newly elected BHS President Frank Perry accepted the award on Judy’s behalf.

We celebrated the 2022 BHS scholarship award winner, Evan Mistler, at our June meeting. Evan graduated from Connetquot High School.
As salutatorian of the Class of 2022, Evan acquired a 103.4 GPA and is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. He is a member of the National Honor Society and World Language and Tri-M honor societies and received the distinction of becoming a Rensselaer Medalist as a junior.
In addition to being involved in the school’s debate club, Evan regularly participates musical pursuits. He plays the trumpet, is a member of the jazz element and is a drum major in the marching band. He most recently played the character Gomez in the highly successful school musical “the Addams Family.” Outside of school, Evan is a youth leader at Saint John Nepomucene in Bohemia. He is also following in his grandfather’s and uncle’s footsteps as a junior firefighter with the Bohemia fire department.
Evan will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this fall where he plans to study chemical engineering.

Frank Perry started the meeting with the Pledge of Legion and minute of silence in memories of Lori Mays.
We then had a very nice friendly circle group talk about the old Bohemia.
Today the speaker was Vera Truhlar. The theme was Easter- decoration, customs, traditions. Jarmila Bren decorated beautiful Easter eggs – donations- fundraiser for the BHS scholarship.
