Books from the Society

Bohemia’s Story, in Print

Three books from the Society, drawn from our own archive and our own kitchens. Every copy sold supports the museum on Locust Avenue, the preservation of our collections, and the Society’s annual scholarship.

A History of Bohemia, Long Island

By the Centennial History Book Committee

Softcover  ·  80 pages

Compiled for Bohemia’s 1955 centennial, this is the community’s own account of its first hundred years — the Czech families who arrived in 1854, the farms and cigar shops they built, the churches, the fire company, the hall on Church Street. The committee gathered it from the people who had lived it, many of them children of the founders, and much of what they wrote down survives nowhere else.
